In Part 2, they are given form. A pipe-cleaner, to be exact. Their evolution takes place in the dingy underground club-esque setting of a cardboard box with weakly attached LEDs...

Through dance, a medium in which bodies are strictly gendered and then sexualized depending on their assigned category, the  pipe cleaner body moves in ways that establish and disrupt the continuity of their self. They develop not just a human-adjacent presence, but also a personality, gender, and sexuality to further problematize the understanding of such categories as anything but rehearsed performance.


Reflecting their performance into <infinity and beyond,> they come to understand that there is no orginial, authentic, only a repeated performance that gives the illusion of a stable self. Yes, they’ve been reading Judith Butler, and yes they know that to be x today is not necessarily to be x tomorrow, unless they choose to continue performing x...
